AdSTM helps to conduct a country wide inventory of known radiation sources. Information on facilities and radiation sources entered into the RASOD (see Software) database serves as a National Registry used to strengthen licensing and inspection activities.
The program provides assistance to in-country regulators in order to develop and implement laws, regulations and guidance for safe and secure use of radiation sources. We also work with interagency community to adopt, enact and promulgate rules and regulations.
We work with government agencies to promote the independent status of the regulator. Historically, we have worked with many of the countries in the Commonwealth of Independent States, but the program is being expanded to include countries in Central and South America.
The program develops user licensing guidance and conducts user workshops to the facilitate the licensing process.
